Director, Patient Navigation & Services

The role will serve as the critical bridge between bluebird bio and the patients we hope to benefit with our therapies.  Reporting to the Vice President, Commercial Operations, this role will establish a bluebird bio patient services competence center.  This person will lead patient support strategy, program design, and drive implementation of a comprehensive support program with a focus on patient education needs, access questions, logistical support needs, financial challenges and other such concerns as they consider treatment options and progress through their treatment journey.  

About the role:

  • Lead development of global patient support strategy and operating models
  • Design, deploy, and manage US Patient Navigation & Services program
  • Select, develop, & manage service partners as needed to support patients
  • Partner with Commercial, Patient Advocacy, and Patient Operations leadership to create and implement a holistic patient support program
  • Define key performance metrics.  Monitor and measure patient experience analytics
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and resources as necessary to launch a comprehensive patient support program

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life science required
  • Advanced degree in Nursing or Social Work preferred, MBA a plus
  • 10+ year experience in patient support & services leadership roles
  • Rare disease and product launch experience preferred
  • Team management and development experience
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects to completion
  • Intense curiosity, collaborative spirit, empathy, and penchant for problem solving
  • Solutions-oriented, strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to champion change and drive innovative thinking
  • Ability to lead and challenge others in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed work environment
